After a few months to reset, I’ve been reflecting on what truly fuels long-term performance. Not just in business but as a leader, advisor, parent and human being.
Recently, I’ve:
🔹 Supported my son through his A-levels (we await 14th August- fingers crossed for LSE!)
🔹 Volunteered, travelled (with my grown-up daughter), and reconnected with old passions like going to the gym, cooking and tending to my roses
🔹 Moved out of my family home, the final stage of a long, respectful divorce
🔹 Had many energising conversations about what I love, where I add value, and what’s next
🔹 Quietly helped a few clients on an ad hoc basis
🔹 Continued to support some fabulous mentees
What I keep hearing from those around me:
Energy. Enthusiasm. Clarity…
More than ever before.
And that doesn’t come from a rammed diary- it comes from giving yourself space to breathe. Connecting home values with work values.
I’ve taken pauses before: maternity leave, the loss of my father, leaving a misaligned role. Each time they’ve gifted me something, sharpened my focus, deepened my resolve, and made me more human, more effective and even more approachable.
Because let’s be honest: high performance is very human.
We lead teams. We manage change. We solve real-world problems.
And we do that best when we’re fully present, physically strong, and emotionally clear.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s offered kindness, made introductions, or simply taken the time to connect. You’ve reminded me how good people really are at their core and how blessed I am to have an army of cheerleaders.
Grateful to people like Phee Mann-Bryans Sam Smith Peter Hardy Divinia Knowles FCMA Nicola Broomham who’ve generously made time, shared insights, introduced me to new contacts or are just quietly cheering me on.
I’m very ready and always open to conversations, whether it’s about scaling, structure, operations, people or leadership.
(And yes- these are my roses 🌹- Boscobel, David Austin, for those also with green fingers!).
