Over the years, I’ve often been asked how I’ve balanced big roles, for example, National Head of Lettings (x2), COO, Lettings Principal alongside running ZR Associates projects, on and off, for over two decades.
Could that make me look… a little flaky?
Here’s the truth: the nature of what I do has always been about transformation.
Whether employed or brought in independently on projects, I’m often the SOS call – “Can you come fix this? Help us scale? Grow revenue quickly? Stabilise? Build capability and help us get to the next level?”
So yes, I’ve threaded my own advisory work to complement the more traditional roles. But it’s never been short-term in thinking – it’s been responsive, collaborative, and grounded in solving real business challenges.
This was the view from my bedroom at sunrise this morning – a small reminder that a different perspective can offer something even better than you ever imagined.
What’s sustained me is variety. Saying yes to the unfamiliar. Stretching myself beyond my lane. Over time, each new experience has sharpened the next. And eventually, you find yourself in a place where most things are within reach. And if they’re not – you know where to go, and who to bring with you.
To those who’ve nudged me, backed me, or taken a chance- thank you.
You know who you are.
